WHICH PROFESSIONS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE IN NEW BRUNSWICK | AIP PROGRAM

After a period of suspension, New Brunswick has finally started reopening its immigration programs after receiving an announcement from the federal government that the province will only be allocated 2,750 immigration nomination spots this year.

The 2,750 spots will be divided between the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) with 1,500 spots and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) with 1,250 spots.

As part of these restrictions, the province has announced that it will prioritize fields such as healthcare, education, and construction for immigration, with some additional support for other sectors. Workers in certain other fields will be "restricted from participating."

At this time, the province will not consider applications for nomination and certification for occupations under the following NOC codes:

• * Accounting technicians and bookkeepers (NOC 12200)
• * Administrative assistants (NOC 13110)
• * Shippers and receivers (NOC 14400)
• * Restaurant and food service managers (NOC 60030)
• * Food service supervisors (NOC 62020)
• Cooks (NOC 63200)
• * Bakers (NOC 63202)
• * Bartenders (NOC 64301)
• * Other customer representatives (NOC 64409)
• * Process control and machine operators – food and beverage processing (NOC 94140)
• * Fish and seafood plant workers (NOC 94142)

This may not be very positive news for New Brunswick at the start of this year, as most skilled worker immigration jobs fall under the restricted group. However, Aimmi is always working hard to find other opportunities for our clients, so let’s overcome these current challenges together!

The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is a program aimed at permanent residency for skilled foreign workers and international graduates from a recognized post-secondary institution in Atlantic Canada who wish to live and work in New Brunswick. This program helps designated employers in New Brunswick hire individuals who qualify for jobs they cannot fill with local residents and Canadian citizens living in the province. Only designated employers can apply for the AIP.
