UPDATED: CANADA IMMIGRATION MINISTRY UPDATES INCOME REQUIREMENTS FOR PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS PROGRAM (PGP)
Starting from July 28, 2025, the Canadian government will begin sending invitations to participate in the Parents and Grandparents Program. To participate, Canadian citizens and permanent residents must meet several conditions, including a change in the income requirements, which are a crucial factor in this round of selection.
Therefore, for the 2025 application period, you will need to meet the income requirements for the years 2024, 2023, and 2022. Additionally, Canadian citizens or permanent residents who expressed interest in sponsoring their parents or grandparents in 2020 are eligible. The government plans to send out 17,860 invitations over two weeks and will accept 10,000 applications in 2025. If you do not receive an invitation to the PGP, you may consider applying for the Super Visa program, which allows parents or grandparents to visit Canada for up to 10 years. Please note that, due to the demand exceeding available spots, the PGP program will use a lottery system to distribute invitations.
