As of July 7, 2025, Canada has adjusted the minimum financial requirements for Express Entry applicants, including:

- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)

Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)

Applicants for permanent residence (PR) under these two Express Entry programs will now need at least an additional $500 in funding.

For a single applicant, the minimum required amount has increased from $14,690 to $15,263.

How does the Express Entry system calculate family size?

Family size includes the applicant, spouse or common-law partner, dependent children of the applicant, dependent children of the spouse or common-law partner, and dependent children of dependent children.

It is important to note that the spouse or common-law partner and dependent children must be included in the application, even if they are Canadian citizens or permanent residents, and even if they are not coming to Canada with the applicant.

Applicants must update their financial information in their Express Entry profile by July 28, 2025, to remain eligible. Applicants under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) or those with a valid work permit and a job offer from a Canadian employer are not required to provide financial proof. However, it is recommended to update financial information in the profile to allow the system to assess the applicant for multiple programs.

Note: The Ministry of Immigration accepts official documents from banks or financial institutions, including account details, current balances, and transaction history for the past 6 months. Assets such as real estate or loans from friends are not accepted as proof of funds.
